The Work that inspired Me

Gothic-shaped eagle-shaped fibula. Gold and silver lamina, rock crystal and garnets. End of the 5th century – VI 6th century. A.D. Rome, Capitoline Museums, from a burial of Via Flaminia. This splendid fibula (buckle or pin with which the garments were secured) inspired the bijoux of this collection made with the ancient technique of cloisonné enamels, also called known as Byzantine luster, so where the enamels are glazed by hand in small cells (in French cloisons) divided by thin metal partitions.

Pendant

Archeo – Gothic and lombardic Fibula

The pendant is inspired by the splendid pair of Gothic-Lombard fibulas discovered in the excavation of a burial along the Via Flaminia in Rome. I wanted to make the fusion of the object current by creating a bijoux with metal chambers that can contain the coat of colored enamels in the actualization of the ancient cloisonné enamel technique called at that time also Byzantine Lustro.

The refinement of the antique execution is maintained in the bijoux: realized entirely by hand with enamels spread in shades of red and pink and setting of crystal stone that together with the white enamel enhance the eye of the splendid eagle.

The bird of prey is a symbol of majesty, mental sharpness and ingenuity. The fibulas were used to close clothes and cloaks, like brooches and are among the most fascinating excavation objects that can come to us from the past.

The pendant is made informal by a leather strap with an end piece and a crystal stone setting that allows it to be tied around the neck.

Earrings

Archeo – Gothic and lombardic Fibula

The earrings in the two variants, pendants and at the lobe, are also inspired by the splendid pair of Gothic-Lombard fibulas found in the excavation of a burial along the Via Flaminia in Rome. I wanted to make current the fusion of fibulas by making bijoux with metal chambers that could contain the coating of colored enamels updating the ancient cloisonné enamel technique known at that time as Byzantine Luster.

The sophistication of the antique execution is maintained in the earrings: made entirely by hand with enamels spread in shades of red and pink and crystal stone setting which, together with the white enamel, enhance the eye of the splendid eagle.
